A Method for Nucleic Acid Sequence Detection

Improved method to capture target DNA/RNA using sequence-specific cross-linking oligonucleotide probes. This technology enables a unique approach to Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) detection, and has broad potential in hybridization based nucleic acid detection methods.

Background: Accurate and sensitive SNP detection is important in numerous fields within the life sciences. Standard methods rely on the cumulative electrostatic interactions between probe and target nucleic acids, resulting in a low power to discriminate between SNP and wild-type sequence at any single nucleotide position. MU’s technology uses modified oligonucleotide probes to create covalent bonds only at targeted SNPS to enable a novel and improved method to detect and/or capture SNP-specific nucleic acid sequences.

Applications: Detection of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism/Variation

Advantages:
- Covalent crosslink enables greater detection sensitivity/specificity
- Compatible with any hybridization-based methods including nanopore and PCR
